Why Do I Have Acid Reflux Only At Night?

Acid reflux is a common difficulty for many people. Some people require medication, while other's have only mild symptoms.

Do You Have Heartburn only at night?

There are several reasons why a person can have heartburn at night.

The issue with reflux may be that you have excess acid in your stomach at night, but in fact the difficulty started with low acid. This is the most important thing to understand.

The answer to the difficulty of why is there acid reflux at night would then be reframed then to why is there low acid at night.

The Thyroid Is Not Working properly

Although a medical blood test administered by your doctor may not reveal any clinical, or even sub-clinical thyroid  difficulty, a thyroid needing re-balancing could show up as acid reflux at night.

This is because thyroid hormone turns on everything in the body, or revs it up might like a car's accelerator.

Usually however, the thyroid stimulating hormone, or TSH measured with a blood test would show some needed improvement.

Blood Type Does Dictate the Acid in the Stomach

Blood Type A's are natural vegetarians. What that means is that they do not naturally digest meats as well as other blood types. For example, Blood Type O's can digest meat, especially red meat better, and actually thrive on red meat.

In addition eating heavy protein meals, like chicken or turkey at night could cause acid reflux later on in the night, or even during sleep.

Poor Food Combinations

Different food combination could cause poor digestion, and the resultant food then takes too much time to digest, and subsequently feels uncomfortable.

Food Sensitivities

Food sensitive are different than food allergies, because they do not mediate an allergic response in the body, but however are a bona- fide health difficulty.

A food which you are sensitive to, can cause the stomach to produce less acid. And eating more than one food at a meal to which you are sensitive to can cause great difficulty, even when you are properly combining your vegetables and proteins in a food combining meal.

Other Reasons

A poorly functioning gall-bladder, sluggish liver, sluggish colon, and candida-overgrowth or candida-infection, and and a weak Stomach, or weak Spleen can cause poor digestion and the resultant heartburn.
